As long as Liberals and Conservatives remain on polar opposites regarding the Health Care legislation, the United States has a chance at success. Should 60 votes crawl together in unison, I just can’t help but think the $870 Billion price tag will be busted while simultaneously “fundamentally changing the United States of America”.
An $870 Billion Health Care bill designed to provide insurance to 30 million people? That’s more than $29 thousand per person. Yes…this amount is over a ten year period, but that’s $29 thousand per person! Is this really about giving Health Care to 30 million people, or is it vying for 30 million new Democrat votes?
“The lines are drawn,” said Sen. Richard M. Burr, R-N.C. “He has to get 60 votes. If he doesn’t get 60 votes, the American people win. If he does get them, America’s payback will come in the form of the 2010 elections.” (New York Times).
The above quote may be true, but severe, perhaps irreparable, damage to a capitalistic medical industry may be too far gone to repair once the Health Care plan has been implemented. Of course I realize this is the basis of the Democratic plan—to socialize medical care.
Let’s pray for a Christmas Eve miracle.
